Find a Top-Rated Ski Resort for Beginners

If you are a complete beginner when it comes to skiing, you may be wondering which of the resorts would be best for you. The last thing you need while you are trying to learn is
advanced skiers cutting you off and making you feel like you are in the way. Should you ski Winter Park, ski Tahoe or ski Breckenridge? Do you need ski instructors and ski lessons? Fortunately there are many resorts with segregated beginner's slopes to allow you to learn at your own pace.

The Best Beginners Resorts

There are plenty of resorts out there which are highly suitable for beginners. Some of the best include:

Breckenridge

This charming and friendly Victorian town features the highest chairlift in North America and an overall lift system serving four interconnected mountains. A wide range of winter activities makes Breckenridge the second most popular resort in the United States. Although crowded on weekends during peak season the accommodations at the resort's "village," at the Great Divide Lodge and at The Châteaux are excellent.

Copper Mountain

When you ski Copper Mountain you will be on some of the best designed skiing mountings in the United States with brilliant terrain that takes full advantage of the bowls and gullies lying between the mountains. Individual trails are laid out to separate different skill levels. Both the resort itself and the Sly Vue Motel offer excellent accommodations. Amenities include bike and ski rentals, a full tennis facility, and a well-equipped business center for those working vacations. In the summer the area features mountain hiking, boating, horseback riding, and golf.

Deer Valley

The multi-million dollar lodges at Dear Valley accommodate a steady stream of skiers during the winter months, drawn not only to the slopes but to amenities like cordon bleu cuisine. Consider staying at the Canyons Grand Summit Resort Hotel and Conference Centre or for longer stays renting one of the Crestview Condominiums. As a whole the resort has facilities for parties and banquets and in season plays host to golf, hot air ballooning, outdoor musical events, horseback riding, tennis, fishing, and swimming.

Keystone

Keystone is a full-featured resort offering skiing on three interconnected mountains, a selection of fine dining, some beautiful lodging, and an excellent calendar of activities. The ski runs feature a 3,128 foot vertical drop, 117 trails spread over 2,870 acres of terrain, a high speed lift, four carpet lifts, a snowboard park with a half pipe, and night skiing. Nature hikes, fly fishing, and golf are also available weather permitting.

Northstar-at-Tahoe

Skiing at Northstar isn't as challenging as some of the top resorts because the slopes aren't as steep but on snowy windy days, it's a beautiful spot with less danger of avalanche. Skiing and snowboarding lessons are available from top professional instructors. It's a good resort for families with excellent accommodations at the Squaw Valley Lodge, the Best Western Truckee Tahoe Inn, and the Hampton Inn & Suites Tahoe-Truckee.
