The Resorts of Oregon: Ski the Pacific NorthwestOregon and the Pacific Northwest are ideal winter vacation destinations. Remaining stunningly beautiful all year round, there are un-spoilt forests and great mountainsSome of the Best Resorts in OregonFinding the best resorts to go to can often be a struggle, but below you will find listed some beautiful and popular winter ski resorts, which are recommended by many skiers.Anthony Lake Ski ResortThe Anthony Lake ski resort is situated near North powder, Oregon, and it may be a small resort with only 21 runs and a 900 feet vertical drop, but it still attracts many skiers. It truly is a powder paradise and its weather conditions mean that there is always guaranteed light, dry snow. One of the best things about this resort is its picturesque scenery. The longest run in the resort is 1.50 miles and there are 1,100 acres of ski able terrain. The site is mainly aimed at advanced and intermediate skiers but there are some slopes available for beginners. The average snowfall is usually around 300 inches and there are 3 lifts that take you around the resort. There is a Nordic centre which hosts some of the best Nordic skiing trails in the North West. There is also a rental store within the centre in case you need to rent any equipment. There aren't many amenities within the resort, though there is some decent lodging available. Some accommodation within the resort offers Jacuzzi suites which provide a nice little added luxury. Overall the resort is a great one to visit if you are just focused on skiing. The lack of amenities makes it less ideal for families though the accommodation is quite good. This is definitely more of a skiing resort for advanced skiers, not beginners. Cooper SpurThe Cooper Spur skiing area is based near the Mt Hood national forest, Oregon, and it has a rough annual snowfall of 100 inches. With just 10 runs and 50 ski able acres of terrain, this is one of the smallest skiing areas in Oregon. However, it is great for beginners and has mainly got terrain especially aimed towards the beginner.Despite its small size, it does have various other activities available. As well as ordinary skiing, there is also cross country skiing, golf, river rafting and cycling. There IS also a tubing centre which is great for children. A lot of families do come here as it is aimed specifically for beginners and children will be safer here. There are various lodging options available and some amenities include spas, a Nordic and ski centre, an expedition lounge and fishing and hunting. It is also well known for its dining options including the ever famous steak house. Overall this is a good little resort to visit if you are just starting out and you are looking for something a little quieter. HooDooThe HooDoo ski area is situated in Willamette, Oregon, and it has 806 ski able acres of terrain. 120 acres of that is groomed making it ideal for beginners. With it mainly being a campsite there are hardly any amenities and skiers who usually travel here are only interested in skiing and camping. HooDoo is mainly a company that has campsites all around Oregon and skiing is just a small service that they offer.Mt AshlandThe Mt Ashland Resort is situated in Southern Oregon and it has an annual snowfall of around 300 inches. There are 23 trails as well as chute skiing and a famous bowl. It is possible to take part in twilight skiing from late December also. It is said that if you can ski at this resort, you can ski anywhere. There are plenty of accommodation options available and all have some good amenities. There are hot tubs, equipment rentals, whirlpools and high speed internet access. There are also health and fitness centers available nearby too.
